Herbivorous suckermouth catfish need food containing 10 % wood for digestion, the exact amount these chips contain.
As the new-style chips do not dissolve in water, they do not pollute the water and give shy fish the opportunity to feed in peace later.
In addition to spirulina and vegetable matter, the chips, which sink in water, also contain energy-providing wheatgerm.
The consistency and the ingredients of JBL NovoPlecoChips are specially balanced to meet the nutritional needs of plant-nibbling suckermouth catfish (plecostomus, ancistrus etc.) and other plant-eating, ground-feeding fish. Wheatgerm, spirulina algae, a high proportion of green nutrients as well as 10 % of vital wood fibre are combined in a special production process to produce a food specifically designed for this species. The chips sink rapidly to the floor of the aquarium, the level at which these fish feed. The stability of JBL NovoPlecoChips in water ensures that the slow-feeding fish have sufficient time to feed without unnecessary pollution of the water. Stabilised vitamin C and other vital vitamins strengthen resistance to disease.
Recommendation for feeding:
Give as much JBL NovoPlecoChips as can be eaten in approx. 20 minutes, once or twice a day (also at night, if necessary). As the Chips are stable in water for up to 24 hours, without disintegrating, a few uneaten Chips do not pose any problem. Staple feed – with antioxidant E306 (nat. Vit. E extract)
The JBL Research and Development Departments are the first to incorporate these findings in their food production, resulting in the new product, JBL Novo PlecoChips. In addition to wheatgerm, spirulina algae and a high proportion of green vegetable matter, 10 % wood fibres provide the necessary cellulose constituents which these fish require for a balanced diet.
The food chips, produced in a special process, sink rapidly and retain their consistency for over 24 hours without dissolving in the water. This ensures that even shy fish have sufficient opportunity to eat in peace. Water pollution is reduced to an absolute minimum at the same time.
